Mindful Advocacy — Nurturing Healthy Boundaries for Lawyers

What are healthy boundaries, and how do you figure out what yours are? How do you set boundaries with others and overcome fear or guilt? Do you fear that people will dislike you or fear that you’re letting people down when you set boundaries?

If any of these questions resonate with you, you are not alone.

As lawyers, we often juggle many different needs and demands, neglecting to tend to our own well-being.

You may find yourself saying yes to things while, on the inside, you are grumbling and really wanting to say no instead.

Learning how to define and express your boundaries takes courage and practice. We are often not taught that our boundaries matter, and reclaiming our power can feel challenging (at first).

This program offers a transformative approach to nurturing healthy boundaries with confidence and clarity through the powerful combination of mindfulness, cognitive behavioral tools, and somatic experiencing.

You can gain the tools and insights necessary to approach boundary issues with greater emotional intelligence and composure.

“Boundaries are expectations and needs that help you feel safe and comfortable in your relationships. Expectations in relationships help you stay mentally and emotionally well.”

— Nedra Glover Tawwab, Set Boundaries, Find Peace

Through guided mindfulness practices and journaling prompts, you will learn to cultivate a heightened sense of self-awareness and emotional regulation so that you can understand and set your boundaries with a greater sense of ease.

By being more present in moment-to-moment experiences, you can develop the ability to respond rather than react, leading to breaking old habits that are no longer serving you.

The practice of wise speech will empower you to communicate with empathy, courage, and authenticity.
